Lela Ross

Meet Lela Ross, she is a local community member and entrepreneur. She was born and raised in Eugene, OR and has lived and worked in this community for 39 years. When she is not being a mother to her wonderful children, she is running her own business Lelasky providing healing services and products. She also serves her community through various programs and community outreach. She is the President of local non-profit, H.O.N.E.Y. Inc, Honoring Our New Ethnic Youth, which is a non-profit that was formed with the goal of providing support and advocacy for the enhancement and acceptance of multiracial persons and their families.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My family consists of my 11 year old son Moses, my 7 year old daughter Aisha & my coparent, their father, Seth and his oldest son Asher who is 19. I come from a family of 10 siblings. My parents are still together and living here.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am currently a entrepreneur. I love being able to be creative and inspired and live in the moment. It doesn’t feel like work. I can be up working late until 11 at night or wake up as early as 5 am and still be excited and have so much energy to put towards my business. The intention and the energy that I am putting into it is being reciprocated by my clients and that feels amazing.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Hot mama’s wings, The Davis, and Papa’s Soul Food even they don’t exist anymore I still have to say that.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I was born and raised here so 39 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
My Dad, Randy Ross is the most interesting person that I have ever met in our community, and also Misa Joo my middle school teacher. She is awesome I love her.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would travel to Peru. I would do a 5 day trip hiking up Machu Picchu to further my spiritual journey and expanding my consciousness.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
The last Dragon, Dumb & Dumber, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and The Simpsons

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Tap into your center and sacred truth, in order to be able to understand who you are and truly love yourself. And to love yourself as you are in this moment, now, there is nothing that you must do, or say or be to be worthy of love.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To do a triathlon

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
always meditation music

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Flicks and Pics. It was an old movie store that smelled like popcorn and old carpet. It had brown hard cases for the movies and the guys that worked there new everything about them.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Oprah Winfrey. Akira Sushi. She is the most inspiring influential, real and authentic powerful woman that I would want to learn from.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The high percentage of folks that are interested in being conscious about the environment, being conscious about food, being conscious about our health and wellbeing. So the landscapes are preserved in a way that is super beautiful and natural here. I like that its small and quaint.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself as a successful entrepreneur and business owner with multiple avenues and interests. I see myslef interacting and being of service to our BIPOC community through healing, sacred space, and social justice.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I’m probably a lot more sensitive then people realize.

Hawaii

May, Thanksgiving/Indigenous Peoples Day, September 27th my Bday, but I also love Wednesday, Friday & Sunday

My children

When it first starts raining when everything has been dry, My favorite scent is Egyptian Goddess
