Donte Sanders

Meet Donte Sanders. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia in a diverse community. He was raised by a single mom as the youngest of four brothers. He moved to Eugene in 2006 and graduated from South Eugene High School. He attended Lane Community College for early child development and has been working in the childcare field for 15 years. His love for the childcare field was created when he assisted in the childcare center at South Eugene High School.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have a niece and nephew and my mother who I adore. I am close with my mother and I am currently helping her get her food cart business started.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am a home daycare provider. I like being able to help families and build friendships along the way. It’s important to me that I provide a safe space for children so their parents can have a piece of mind while they are at work or school. I value the relationships that I have built throughout the years with the children and parents.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I like Once Famous Grill, Meiji, Sushi Pier and of course my moms house for home cooked meals.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived here since 2006 so 15 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Dallas Boggs, he wears a lot of hats and is super involved in the community.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Jamaica would be nice to see some heritage and see beautiful people.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Favorite movies would be All About the Benjamins, and Due Date they are both funny. Power is a good tv show and Baskets is pretty funny.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Live your best life and follow your heart.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To buy a house and put my Mom in a house. Also to travel the world, the world is meant to be seen.

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
TI or something rap.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Blessings Hair Salon is a big part of how I got where I am today.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Jay Z. I would like to talk to him and get advice about being an entrepreneur and business decision. I would take him to Fisherman’s Market.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
There is a lot of nature and get to experience all seasons. It is peaceful here.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Living on top of the hill looking down on the city. I would like to own a few daycares and own my own home.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I ran track.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Hawaii is beautiful.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
June is my favorite month. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving and I like Friday.

My mother and the circle around me.
